Administrative HistoryWilliam Townsend Storrs (b 1833 or 1834), missionary and clergyman. Attended Church Missionary College in 1853. Ordained deacon 1855 and priest 1857. First accepted as a CMS missionary and travelled out to India in 1856. Served 16 years as a missionary between 1856 and 1879. One of the founders of Lucknow mission. Built Taljhari Church. Conferred Bachelor of Divinity April 1879.

1857: CMS North India mission based at Lucknow
1863: transferred to CMS Santal mission
1871: retired to England; curate Masham, Yorkshire
1872: incumbent of Heckmondwike, Yorkshire
1875 vicar of Great Horton, Bradford
1877: re-offered for work with CMS Santal mission
1879: retired to England
1881 vicar of Sandown, Isle of Wight
