Administrative History | Edith May Moule (nee Bernau) was born in 1869 into a family with longstanding CMS missionary connections. She first went out to Japan as a CMS missionary in 1894 but resigned on her marriage to her cousin, George Herbert Moule in 1900. He was later accepted as a CMS missionary and she accompanied him on his posting to Japan in 1903, staying for the next 6 years. They returned to England on account of her health but after several year's service in English parishes her husband was recalled to work at the Ikebukuro Theological College, Tokyo. They retired to England in 1936 where her husband took a series of country livings in Dorset. She died in 1944.
