Administrative History | The Bishop Tugwell Diocesan Fund was established in 1895 following an appeal by Bishop Herbert Tugwell, as Bishop of West Equatorial Africa, for a separate independent fund to be put at his disposal in order to promote branches of his work which could not be met from the funds of the Church Missionary Society. A Committee was appointed to act as trustees, to collect contributions and to administer the fund. Following diocesan reorganisation the fund was used to assist work in the dioceses of Lagos and the Niger in Western Equatorial Africa. Reference: Minutes of the Bishop Tugwell Diocesan Fund |
