| Description | Manuscript copies of the detailed letters which George James Clark wrote to his father which relate to his recruitment and early service with the CMS, including his journey from Southampton to Mombasa. They cover the period January-September 1876.
There are 10 letters and a telegram, the first four of which are written from England; others are from Mombasa and Zanzibar and the last, dated 2 September, is from Mpwapwa, where he was stationed.
These are carbon copies of manuscript copies which were made, presumably by a family member and probably in the mid 20th century. They are written as continuous text on lined foolscap paper and consist of 35 pages |
