Administrative History | Oomen Mamen (1830-1904) of Travancore, a Syrian Christian, attended Cottayam College. He was recruited as a CMS missionary in 1856 and was ordained as deacon in 1856 and priest in 1859 by the Bishop of Madras. He was stationed at Allepie,Mallapalli and Changanacheri. He translated sections from English Divines, printed under the title 'Spiritual Gems'. He became Archdeacon of Mavelikara. His son, Allumettel Oomen Matthai, was also a CMS missionary.
