Description12 Oct: Sends detailed account of remuneration of missionaries and native agents; on reaching Calcutta [Kolkata] will send account of each mission and its schools; hopes Schmid can be prevented from publicly opposing the ordination of Bowley and Abdul Masih by the bishop; "the measure is necessary to our consistency as a church society"; Mill has given up the doctrine of justification by faith and the students at the college are being admitted without adequate previous instruction; arrival of Mr. Goode is therefore important, especially as Thomason is going home; Corrie looks forward to "retiring more into the shade of my proper and desired place"; questions of annuity for missionaries' widows, and of payment during outward passage need looking into and settling; it seemed necessary to form the Ladies' Society in order to enlist support of those who would not assist CMS
