Description | Sketch book entitled 'Portraits of school girls and other persons' containing sketches by Caroline Cuffley Giberne, missionary teacher in India. There are sketches of nineteen of her pupils, together with brief descriptions of them, and letters, newscuttings, photographs and samplers made by her pupils.

Administrative History | Caroline Cuffley Giberne (d 1885) served with the Society for Female Education in the East and was stationed in Ceylon. By 1844, she was a CMS missionary teacher and was stationed in Kadathapuram, Tinnevelley, South India. She served with the CMS until 1862. She died at Bath on 14 June 1885 |
Custodial History | This collection was deposited in 1950 with Selly Oak Colleges by Helen M. Neave. It was then transferred to the Orchard Learning Resources Centre which was opened in 1997 following the merger of the Selly Oak Colleges Library and the Westhill College Library. In 2000, the custodianship of all archive collections held at the Orchard Learning Resources Centre was transferred to the University of Birmingham |
