DescriptionLetters and postcard written to James Rendel Harris from Henry Barclay Swete, Rector of Ashdon, Essex and Professor of Divinity, University of Cambridge

His letters are written from Cambridge and Saffron Waldron and concern his production of a translation of the Septuagint, and his travels abroad. Two of the letters, dated 1892, also concern the the offer by the University of Cambridge to Rendel Harris of the position of University Lecturer in Palaeography.

/1 refers to difficulty in gaining research access to an undefined manuscript, Xmas Day 1888; /2 hopes that Harris will bring a copy of the manuscript of Theodore, 22 February 1889; /4 commiserates over a break in to his house when parts of his work on the Septuagint were stolen, 5 January 1892; /7 refers to visit to North Africa and to work in libraries in Algeria and Tunis and expresses concern that Harris is not tempted to forget Cambridge and accept a professorship at the University of Athens, 1 May 1892
