DescriptionCorrespondence with Josephine Roberts, missionary in Korea (1959-), dated 14 Jul 1959 - 5 Oct 1980. Correspondence relates to Josephine's role in social and medical work for the Korean Mission, which included establishing branches of the Mothers Union and work with orphans at Suwon Orphanage. Part 2 of the correspondence relates specifically to her role as Orphanage Liason Officer for the Mission, and includes details of the sponsorship scheme for orphans whereby financial support for individual children was provided by 'adopters' in the UK who provided annual donations. Also includes lists of orphans and adopters for 1962-1964 and correspondence from Father Smart's file. Part 3 relates to the funding for medical care for a Korean child at a
hospital in the UK.

Administrative HistoryJosephine Roberts was sent to Korea by the Mothers' Union in 1959. By 1976 all of the churches in Korea had Mothers' Union branches. She left Korea in December 1976, and undertook deputation work for the Mothers' Union in the UK. She returned to Korea in 1978 as the secretary and assistant to the Bishop of Taejon.
