DescriptionOfficial correspondence and copy correspondence of Lesslie Newbigin, printed material comprising offprints and editions of articles by Fr. J. M. R. Tillard, press cuttings, and associated papers relating to professional matters of Newbigin on his departure from India. Much of the material relates to the Fifth Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC) held in Nairobi, and Newbigin's composition of an Assembly report, Church of South India (CSI) matters, lecture tours and foreign visits by Newbigin, and his publications. In addition there is a small amount of material relating to family matters, including Newbigin's stay with the royal party at Balmoral, and the personal affairs of associates.

Correspondents are largely professional associates from throughout the world, and former CSI colleagues, though they include family members and personal associates.
