Physical DescriptionPreviously stored in box file labeled 'Massignon-Padwick Correspondence'
Administrative HistoryConstance Padwick (1886-1968) served as a missionary with the Church Missionary Society at Cairo, Egypt (1923-1939), Palestine (1939-1948), and North Sudan (1948-1957).
Custodial HistoryIt is probable that James Windrow Sweetman acquired these letters and that they were deposited at the same time as his own papers with the Selly Oak Colleges Central Library [later forming part of the Orchard Learning Resources Centre]. In 2000, the custodianship of all archive collections held at the Orchard Learning Resources Centre was transferred to the University of Birmingham

Cataloguing of the records was undertaken by the Special Collections Department, University of Birmingham, in June 2000, as a result of the University of Birmingham's relationship with Selly Oak Colleges endowment trust.
Related MaterialPadwick was also involved with the Central Literature Committee for Moslems and records of this body are held by the Orchard Learning Resources Centre (GB 0151 DA7). Other material relating to her and her work can be found in collections held in the Special Collections Department on the Edgbaston campus: the official archives of the Church Missionary Society (GB 0150 CMS) and the Church Missionary Society Unofficial Papers (GB 0150 CMS/ACC)
