Administrative History | The Artistic Director is responsible for planning the productions for the Theatre, including casting, and will direct at least one show himself per season. He chooses directors for the other productions, as well as members of the creative teams. Artistic Directors of the New Shakespeare Company have included David William (1962-1967); Richard Digby Day (1968-1973); Mervyn Willis (1974-1976); Ian Talbot (1981, 1987-). Ian Talbot combined the role of Artistic & Managing Director from 1987 until 2006 when he reverted to role of Artistic Director. He was succeeded by Timothy Sheader in 2007. |
