| Administrative History | The Artistic Director is responsible for planning the productions for the Theatre, including casting, and will direct at least one show himself per season. He chooses directors for the other productions, as well as members of the creative teams. Artistic Directors of the New Shakespeare Company have included David William (1962-1967); Richard Digby Day (1968-1973); Mervyn Willis (1974-1976); David Conville (1977-1986); Ian Talbot (1981, 1987-). David Conville and Ian Talbot combined the role of Artistic & Managing Director from 1977 until 2006 when Talbot reverted to role of Artistic Director. He was succeeded by Timothy Sheader (2007-2023) and Drew McOnie in 2024. |
