Administrative History | The Press & Marketing Manager is a seasonal position within the New Shakespeare Company, working from February to August. The Press & Marketing Manager liases with the Press on advertising and press releases; the Photographer on production photographs and front of house displays; the graphic designers and printers on the design and production of the programme, posters, fliers and adverts, and is responsible for print distribution. A press clippings agency is employed to collect reviews and other news clippings.
Responsibility for liason with the press, and marketing the New Shakespeare Company has been managed by different positions over time. This included the use of external press agencies in the early years. An internal Marketing Officer was employed from 1982, taking on additional responsibility for sponsorship in 1984. In 1994, Sheila Benjamin became Sponsorship, Marketing & Press Officer. In 1997, she went on to become General Manager, retaining responsibility for sponsorship, and press and marketing were taken on by a Press & Marketing Manager. |
