Administrative HistoryThe New Shakespeare Company employs a team of five people on a seasonal basis, to take responsibility for stage management. This includes a Company Manager, two Stage Managers and two Deputy Stage Managers. In earlier years, Assistant Stage Managers would be drawn from the season's cast. The Stage Management team work with the Company to ensure the smooth running of rehearsals (which begin mid to late April), and make sure that the show remains up to scratch for the remainder of the run. During a performnace, a Deputy Stage Manager will be 'on the book' to provide prompts where necessary, and to produce a show report. Stage Management are also responsible for finding the props and furniture required by the Designer, and for ensuring that props and cast members are in the right place at the right time.
