|Correspondence and a printed leaflet by William Wood sent to Harriet Martineau asking for support for his concept of creating a factory combined with an establishment for the board, lodging, instruction and training of female workers. The establishment would mainly be for "female orphans, the deaf and dumb, and the destitute". It was proposed highly educated ladies would offer training and instruction to the workers. The proposed site for the textile factory was Monkhill, Pontefract, Yorkshire.
