DescriptionShe sends, on 4 July, her congratulations on his brother's elevation which she describes as 'long-expected & well deserved' [Graves's brother, Charles was appointed as Bishop of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe in 1866 and it is this appointment to which the letter presumably refers]. She then describes her declining health and reports on her resignation from writing for the 'Daily News' , closing her 'literary career of 45 years'. She sends him a copy of the Editor's reply to her letter of resignation (see HMLAdd/28) and writes about her retirement. She also writes in detail about the illness, state of mind and daily life of Miss Napier which she hears about from her niece, Jane. Other names mentioned include Lady Elgin, whose proposed visit had to be cancelled, her sister, Mrs Higginson who had been to stay and her niece, Susan. With envelope addressed to Dovenest
