Description24 January. Photocopy. Martineau makes reference to her portraits including 'Miss Gillies's extraordinary representations and the portrait by [George] Richmond (1809-1896, portrait painter) on which she looks more favourably which is at the engravers. She writes in support of the paper 'The Spectator' and takes serious issue with Mr Hunt's criticism of Miss [Charlotte] Brontë (1816-1855, novelist).
