DescriptionPartial letter to an unidentified recipient due to the first two pages cut away. The letter therefore begins on page three opening with 'of sunstroke and from diarrhoea'. Martineau then goes on to write about Benjamin Disraeli and his part in the Corn Law debate describing him as '...my chief trouble - the shame- the disgust - the fear!...And people go on proving Disraeli's falseness as if it was a new idea!' she goes on to criticise his integrity further saying he cannot be trusted due to '...deliberate cheating and lying...' The letter is dated (in a different hand) 6th July 1868.
