She is currently reading Lyulph Stanley's letters (as promised by his mother), from Florida, the Mississippi, the Rocky Mountains and California. Harriet makes some comments on current affairs, including the engagement of Lord Lorne to one of Queen Victoria's daughters, and notes that she has recently received gifts of pictures, oysters and grapes. The original envelope is included.
