Description | He writes on behalf of the Rev. Mr Holland relating to proposal by 'the Degree Committee' of Glasgow University to confer the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity upon Holland. Although Chamberlain admits he has not made Prof. Nichol's personal acquaintance, he wishes to testify to Mr Holland's 'character and abilities'. He goes on to describe him as 'a Liberal in the best sense of the word'. It is with 'great pleasure' that he considers the suitability of Holland for this 'distinction' |
