TitleLetter from Joseph Chamberlain to White
Extent1 item
Date1896
DescriptionLetter written from Highbury, Moor Green, Birmingham dated 31 January. Chamberlain writes that money for the relief of the Armenians should go to a pre-existing private fund under the presidency of the Duke of Westminster, rather than come from national monies. He thanks White for the kind words about his work, 'which as you may imagine, still continues very heavy'. [Armenia was subject to a series of massacres under the Ottoman government, 1894-1896; Chamberlain was Secretary of State for the Colonies, 1895-1903].
