Chamberlain writes that he is happy for his letter to be shown to Mr Gladstone as publicity will be useful for the scheme [see JCLAdd/347]. He is pleased that Duignan supports the scheme and hopes to arrange a meeting of those involved. With regards to his possible candidature in East Staffordhsire, Chamberlain writes that he may be able to stand if his supporters will release him from his obligations. He writes that personally he cares very little about electoral success but each man must 'take his share of the fight'.
