In the first of these letters, written from 40 Prince's Gardens [London] SW dated 26 May, Chamberlain acknowledges receipt of the copy of the resolutions passed at the meeting of the Cornwall Works Liberal Union and thanks Young for the Union's support, especially for the proposed Merchant Shipping Bill. In the second letter written from Highbury, Moor Green, Birmingham dated 30 Sep, Chamberlain reaffirms that he cannot undertake to deliver an address to 'your members' [of theCornwall Works Liberal Union] but hopes to be able to attend a meeting where he could use the occasion 'to say a few words of sympathy with your object & organisation'. The envelope for this letter is addressed to Mr Young at the Corwall Works, Smethwick
