DescriptionLetter addressed to 'My dear Sir' written from Southbourne, Augustus Road, Edgbaston dated November 4th 1876. Chamberlain writes to ask Farley to meet him before the scheduled committee of the council so that they can discuss certain matters prior to this important meeting. He proposes to meet at a certain time and requests Farley to resond by telegraph to the Gas Works, Old Square.

Administrative HistoryAlderman Reuben Farley (d. 1899) was a major benefactor to the borough of West Bromwich, distributing his wealth earned through local industry. He served on many of the town’s Boards and Committees and gave Greets Green Park and the Oak House to the people of West Bromwich, he was Mayor of the town five times.
