DescriptionLetter written from House of Commons [London]. He writes in response to the dissatisfaction of the Great Western and other railway companies with the system of education provided for their managers and engineers. As Chancellor of Birmingham University, Chamberlain maintains that such matters have already been under consideration, and he proposes discussions with Cawdor to establish whether it is possible, in association with his scheme 'for a modern university on the American model', to provide a specialised form of higher education for those who perform important posts on the railway system
