TitleLetter from Joseph Chamberlain, Highbury, Moor Green, Birmingham to Richard Cadbury, Uffculme, 13 Jan[uary]. Photocopy
Extent1 item
Date(1899)
DescriptionHe writes to suggest that the West Indies might prove a suitable location for Cadbury's cocoa farming, particularly as at the present time Crown lands may be bought or leased out at 'reasonable prices'. Chamberlain maintains that the lack of success experienced by the West Indies has simply been due to insufficient 'energy' and 'capital'. He invites Cadbury to contact him for further information, and suggests a possible meeting to discuss the new university which he envisions is 'capable of doing enormous good in Birmingham and the district'
