DescriptionLetter written by Joseph Priestley (1733-1804) to Dr. Thomas Percival (1740-1804), physician, of Manchester. Priestley writes to thank Dr. Percival for his 'ingenious paper' on the perceptive power of plants and reports on his recent experiments with air. He explains that he has been most preoccupied with '...that kind of air in which a candle burns..' which has led him to discover 'several new facts'. He also refers to the publication of his 'History of opinions concerning Christ' which he hopes to be published next Spring. Written from Birmingham on 28 July 1785.
