DescriptionLetter written by Joseph Priestley (1733-1804) to William Constable of Burton Constable, Yorkshire on 12 April 1782 written from London St. Paul's. Priestley reports on his latest experiments on phlogiston telling Constable ' so generous a friend of science, it will give you some pleasure to be informed of the success of my experiments'. Priestley goes on to exclaim 'I think I have happily cleared up the very obscure subject of phlogiston, the very existence of which many persons have questioned of late'. The remains of the letter is an account of his experiments, the success of which he is clearly delighted with.
