| Administrative History | John Porter (1838-1922) was an English Thoroughbred flat racing trainer and founder of the Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire. As trainer, and then owner of Kingsclere horse training establishment near Newbury, Porter trained horses that won twenty three of the British Classic Races, including seven in England's most prestigious meet, the Epsom Derby.
