| Description | Letter written from 26 Draycott Place, Cadogan Gardens, SW, dated 29 May. Baring (1871-1957, Liberal Party politician) sends Allard (liberal political organiser) a cheque and effusive thanks for his assistance during an election he refers to as 'the Island contest'.
It seems that the letter refers to a by-election held in the Isle of Wight in 1900. Liberal candidate Godfrey Baring lost the contest to Unionist candidate John Seely. |
