| Description | Letter written from 61 Ayers Street, Rangiora, New Zealand, dated 29 June responding to two questions from Professor Ross which appeared in 'The (Christchurch) Press' [newspaper]. Loughnan discusses the expressions 'pen nib' and 'pen's nib', as well as 'house' and 'boat house'. He also goes on to draw on other examples of variations in dialect and use of words, and notes that he has been 'quietly making a collection of slang belonging solely to N. Z. [sic] farm & station life', which he would be happy to share with Professor Ross. |
