As he has no publishing outlet for this material, White tries to cover Ross's questions informally. He goes on to comment about Tahitian proper names, providing a detailed analysis of several names. White closes by correcting Ross's Tahitian injunction to 'be diligent in the work', noting that the grammar which Ross used is wrong. Finally, he wishes Ross luck with the book, adding in Tahitian 'may your work succeed.' A copy of the letter was also sent to E. H. Flint. |
