| Description | Letter written from Forelands, dated 28 May. 'Amphy' tells Fry that she and H. Sidgwick are considering getting married, but writes that it is very uncertain at present. She comments that Fry is 'kind of a mother or aunt' to her. She writes about preparing for a nursing job that she is starting in a few days time, and about her plans until then, which include meeting her 'Somerville pals' in Oxford. She discusses Rack's temporary wardenship of the hostel, which she describes as being very successful. She notes that students looking for jobs would rather do war work than teaching, and mentions that they have discussed whether to limit their jam and margarine consumption. She writes appreciatively of the natural world. |
