DescriptionLetter written from E. I. College [Hertfordshire] dated 29 May. Dickinson is sorry that his mother is disappointed with his monthly report and gives explanations for his low marks in mathematics and his absences from chapel. He writes that he is working hard and expresses anxiety about keeping his 'Rank' in class, discussing the marks he needs to achieve to be classed as 'Highly distinguished'. He reports that he spent a pleasant day with the Newnams.

With an undated letter from Dickinson to his mother and father. He informs his parents that he is going to stay with the Newmans for a few days. He notes that the Easter examinations are approaching and writes: 'Chapel every morning at 1/2 past 8, & evening at 8 - Lectures till 1 & dinner at 5 is the order of the day'. He is grateful for the friendship of Mr Eastwick ('a Professor in Hindustani in the College') and the Newmans. He asks to be remembered to Houghton and Mr and Mrs Hicks. The letter appears to have some pages missing.
