| Description | Letter written from Melksham, Wiltshire dated 23 June. Lonsdale [1794-1871, geologist] thanks Fitton for sending a presentation copy of his book on New Zealand and compliments Fitton on his work. He notes that he had a visit from Dr Fitton. He writes about the effects that the 'clouded summer' has had on the local crops and comments that the weather is 'far from acceptable to a recluse who feels yearly the advance of decrepitude'.
Accompanied by a note giving brief biographical details about Lonsdale, signed 'J.E.D.' |
