| Description | Letter written from Portobello near Edinburgh, addressed 'Dear Sir'. A note on the top of the letter states that it was received about 30 January. Norton [1808-1877, author and law reform campaigner] claims that she paid the bill for the Lancet newspaper weeks ago but will check her account book when she returns to London.
Accompanied by a note reading: 'I do not recollect who gave me this note, but it is undoubtedly wholly in Mrs Norton's handwriting'. Signed 'J.E.D.' |
