DescriptionWith an Edinburgh postmark dated 30 June. The initials LP are written in the lower left hand corner and the top is annotated: 'Lyon Playfair to (now) Mrs E. B. Fitton'.

In the paper handlist the sender is identified as Sir Lyon Playfair (1786-1861) however the sender could be first Baron Playfair (1818-1898), politician and chemist, who worked in Edinburgh at this time.
