Sir Raymond Priestley (1886-1974; geologist and Antarctic explorer), was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham from 1938-1952. Dr. Eduard Beneš (1884-1948; Czechoslovakian political leader) was President of Czechoslovakia from 1935-1938, when he was forced to resign and went into exile in London. On returning to Czechoslovakia following the war, Beneš was President again from 1945-1948. |
