Extent2 items
Date[1965]
DescriptionPersonal letter, written from Blue Harbour, Port Maria, Jamaica, W[est] I[ndies], which is addressed to 'Miss Feldman' but accompanied by an envelope addressed to Miss Edna Ferber in New York City. Coward describes the letter as 'a love letter so swallow it immediately after reading it'. He refers to a 'Noël Coward Repertory to be staged in the autumn and tells her he is writing a new play and has just finished two short stories. 'Apart from that this life is one long doze!' and he writes about his visitors. He plans to visit New York the following month when he will 'telephone immediately.

This letter is dated 15 March but no year date is given. However, the letter refers to the Queen Mother's visit to Jamaica in February and so the year has been identified as 1965.

Edna Ferber (1887-1968), author of 'Showboat' was a friend of Coward's: they first met when he went to New York in 1921.
