DescriptionLetter written from Hotel ?Caraband, Nice, dated 18 December. Maxwell writes that he received the sad news of Frank's death from Fanny and John, who told him that 'the coma of apoplexy' was the cause of death. Maxwell reflects on his relationship with Frank, expresses his grief at Frank's death and his regret that he did not appreciate Frank more. He expresses his sympathy for Frank's wife and son. He writes: 'Alas my dear our numbers are getting small - whose turn will it be next?' He goes on to say that Sarah's health is much improved since coming to Nice; in February they will move on to ?Montani.
