Description | 'A Book of Hours' calendar for 1936 designed by John Buchan, printed in colour by the National Children's Home, Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
Text on the back page states: “The illuminated panels of this Calendar are from original drawings by Mr. John Buchanan, who was trained at the Special Branch of the National Children’s Home and Orphanage, at Chipping Norton, for the care and cure of crippled children, and subsequently at the Oxford Art School. Though without hands, he has by his ability and undaunted perseverance surmounted in large measure his original handicap, and is now established in his own studio as artist designer”. |
