| Description | Letters from Henry Reed to his family and friends. The letters are dated between 1930 and 1985, although a significant number of letters are undated. The letters contain numerous references to Reed's literary works and also provide an insight into his character. Some of the letters are extremely witty whilst others are full of despair. Letters written between 1940 and 1945 often contain details of Reed's experiences during the Second World War, serving in the Ordnance Corps. A number of letters from Henry Reed have been dated by another hand at a later date [possibly by Michael Ramsbotham]. Where this has occurred, the assumed date has been included in square brackets. |
