DescriptionCorrespondence relating in large part to financial matters concerning the management of the estate of Hindley Leigh Philips. This includes the purchase and renewal of bonds in the Lancashire and Yorkshire, the Great Western, the South Wales and the London, Chatham and Dover Railways Companies. There is also correspondence relating to the conveyances of lands and mortgages, the transfer of documents between solicitor's offices, notification from Officers of the Masters in Lunacy, arrangements for meetings and the provision of updates on stock holdings and securities. The correspondence also includes a small amount of material relating to arrangements for the provision of clothing for Hindley Leigh Philips whilst under the care of Dr Frederick Moore Smith, at Hadham Palace Asylum, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire.

In addition, there is also a small amount of material relating to the affairs of George Philips, most especially his personal investments including his involvement with the Llandridodwells Freehold Land and Building Co, and the legal arrangements for the drawing up of his will. These papers include particulars of share transfers and printed company annual reports.
