Administrative History | Information supplied by a researcher, Nov 2023:
Appearances was first staged in 1925 at the Frolic Theatre in New York. It was the first full-length drama by an African American to appear on Broadway. Anderson was likely the first person of colour to become a member of P.E.N, the writers’ association founded in London in 1921 to advocate for writers’ freedom of expression. |
