DescriptionThis is a continuous sequence of wages books for a period of 15 years. They give the name of the employee - usually surname, and sometimes a first name or an initial. Wages were paid on a weekly basis and occasionally additional information - such as details of payments on account or notes of absence - is recorded. The first two volumes record the information on sequential pages, week by week; the third volume presents the weekly information in a tabulated form for each employee over a four month period. No information is given about the nature of the work undertaken by any of the employees

These records were clearly working records which have been regularly amended and annotated. Entries are written in both pen and pencil
