DescriptionAnn Prest records an extended trip to London lasting from January to May which included visits to the theatre, giving details of titles of plays, shopping, visits to and from friends, walks in parks and gardens and to other London sights including Westminster abbey, the Kings Bench Prison, St. Pauls, the elephants in the Park, sightings of George III and Queen Charlotte at St. James, visits to different churches, including a Roman Catholic chapel and Synagogue.

The accounts pages contain details of expenses for the writer's time in London, including the loss of 3 shillings at cards "at different times", and details of clothes, material for clothes, washing, theatre visits and letters. She records problems with her health for most of April, when she "took Physic" once a week. On her return to Bedale, the diary entries become sparser, (there are virtually none between June and August), although she does record her brother's wedding on 24 May. Apart from a few entries giving details of short excursions in the local area in August, the rest of the diary is blank.
