Description
These records consist of separate sequences of books kept by the factory secretaries of firms, who acted as collectors of the weekly contributions of members of the Association. The books record receipt of individual named members weekly payments and are audited. They also include the names and contact details of the collectors.
This series of records also includes a sequence of contribution books for 'outworkers'; these were workers not associated with factories who carried out their trade in small workshops.
A single contribution book containing details of Anchorsmith firms paying contributions to the Association is included in this series as it post-dates the amalgamation of the Anchorsmiths, Shackle and Shipping Tackle Makers Association under the Chainmakers and Strikers Association.
