DescriptionCorrespondence addressed to Bill [William John] and/or Pauline Phillips. One item of correspondence is addressed to Mrs Francis Jones. It is likely that this letter was intended for Pauline Phillips as her maiden name was Pauline Margaret Francis Jones.

The letters span a wide date range and include items of correspondence during the Second World War. Some letters during this period refer to Reed's experience of life in the army and one letter, written in 1942, discusses the decline of the British Empire. Many of the letters discuss Reed's literary works and Bill's acting career whilst some later letters indicate the extent of Reed's failing health.

MS61/3/2 also comprises an unpublished sonnet which was included with the letter.
