DescriptionLetter written from Biarritz to Harriet Thiebault; dated 10 October, signed 'dear sister, most affectionately yours' but the signature is undecipherable

The writer thanks Harriet for offering to take her daughter Isabelle with her for the winter, but thinks that the cold climate would be bad for her health, despite the advantages to her of passing time in the company of Harriet's daughter, her cousin. She thanks Harriet also for offering to marry Isabelle, but fears that 'a girl without money has very little chance in this world'. She writes that Adolphe (Harriet's husband) has been staying with her, and that the 'good air' has helped him. The letter bears a note in French in a different hand at the top of the first page which is also dated 10 October 1849 and written from Biarritz
