TitleLetters from Josef Holbrooke to Granville Bantock
Extent1 file
Datec 1900-c 1930
DescriptionUndated correspondence sent from Holbrooke's residences at Vale House, Tufnell Park, London, and at Harlech. Judging from the addresses on dated correspondence in the collection, Holbrooke was no longer living at either of these places after about 1930.

Topics discussed in the correspondence sent from Vale House and from Harlech are similar to those found in the dated letters from this period. Holbrooke writes about his compositions, suggests possible collaborations for performances, and discusses how to promote British music, particularly his own works, frequently commenting that he receives limited support in this from his contemporaries. His complaints are not directed towards Bantock, but he occasionally implies that Bantock might do more to help him. He makes arrangements to see Bantock when he is in Birmingham, and encourages him to visit him in Harlech.
